Panthers hire former longtime Washington CB DeAngelo Hall as defensive assistant
The Carolina Panthers and new head coach Frank Reich are assembling a dream staff. Reich has hired two coveted coordinators in Ejiro Evero [defense] and Thomas Brown [offense]. In addition, Reich hired two former two-time NFL head coaches, Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers, for roles on his staff.
Another respected longtime assistant, Duce Staley, also joined Reich’s staff, as did former NFL quarterback Josh McCown.

Now, another former NFL stalwart has joined Reich’s staff. DeAngelo Hall, a 14-year NFL veteran and three-time Pro Bowler, was hired as an assistant defensive backs coach for the Panthers.
The former first-round pick spent his four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons before he was traded to the then-Oakland Raiders. The Raiders released Hall midway through his first season with the franchise, and he was picked up by the then-Washington Redskins.
Hall would spend the final 9.5 seasons of his NFL career in Washington, retiring after the 2017 season. After retirement, Hall was hired by the team as a part of its gameday broadcast crew. He was also a part of the NFL Network.
Hall has long been interested in coaching, so this one was not a surprise. Best of luck to Coach Hall in his new career.
