Hua Hin, located in Prachuap Khiri Khan province of Thailand, is a district known for its beautiful beach resort town. With a population of approximately 65,983 as of December 2019, Hua Hin covers an area of 838.9 square kilometers. It is situated 199 km south-southwest of Bangkok and is part of the Thai government's promotion of the "Thai Riviera," a stretch of coastline between Phetchaburi and Chumphon.

The history of Hua Hin dates back to 1834 when it was originally known as Samore Riang, meaning 'rows of rocks,' due to its distinctive white sand and rocky beach. The name Hua Hin, which means 'stone head,' was given by Prince Krom Phra Naresworarit in the 1920s when the royal family began to build summer residences in the area. King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) also built a summer palace here, named Klai Kang Won, meaning 'far from worries.' Hua Hin's popularity as a beach resort began with the construction of the Railway Hotel by the state railway director in 1921 and the district's connection to Bangkok via the southern railway.

The district has faced challenges, including bomb blasts in August 2016 that resulted in casualties and injuries. In response, security measures, including the installation of security cameras, have been enhanced.

Hua Hin experiences a tropical savanna climate with a dry season from December to April followed by the monsoon season. The district is administratively divided into seven sub-districts and is known for its educational institutions, including Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital and Silpakorn University.

Transportation in Hua Hin includes road, rail, and sea routes, with plans to upgrade the Hua Hin Airport to accommodate the expected increase in travelers. Despite the discontinuation of the daily ferry service to Pattaya in 2018, Hua Hin remains a key destination in Thailand's tourism and transportation network.
