Our Extended Play series is tailor made for a band like Imagine Dragons. On the one hand, the pop-rockers' scale and ambition can barely be contained by the stadiums they regularly sell out. For the group behind ubiquitous hits like “Thunder,” “Radioactive,” and “Believer,” success is measured in millions and billions. Such impact can feel impenetrable, but our performance-interview series is all about pulling back the curtain. And on the other hand there’s singer Dan Reynolds. An open book, he’s the band’s primary songwriter, and a fascinating one at that. We saw that up close at Conway Studios, where Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, and bassist Ben McKee created their latest album, ‘LOOM,’ under the guidance of producers Mattman & Robin. The microphones were hot during rehearsals, adding a loose and informal vibe to this short film. All three dudes were revealing. Dan touches on relationships and the Dragons core ethos. McKee calls 'LOOM' the "most focused and intentional" album of their career. Sermon energizes jam sessions. It's a uniquely holistic view of one of the world's biggest bands, powered by the earnest musical energy that only Imagine Dragons can conjure.
