We were asked to rectify a number of issues relating to water penetration and rotted wood in the cab area of this RT. Removal of panels to investigate the source of the problem revealed extensive water damage to both the timber and steel parts of the cab frame.

Due to the complexities of the all timber construction the cab area is unquestionably the most time consuming part of any RT restoration, no two parts are the same and must all fit together with absolute precision before the glazing and outer panels are fitted. All our timber parts are made by hand from original patterns in English or American Ash with some of the larger sweeping curved sections being cut from timber slabs up to five inches thick. We also supplied the cab timbers for Ensign Bus's RT8.

Work moved on to the rear of this RT where we discovered problems on a similar scale to those found at the front.
