The AIADMK broke its ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Monday after a meeting at the party headquarters in Tamil Nadu, saying that the BJP had been making "unnecessary remarks about AIADMK's former leaders". The move to call it quits comes days after senior AIADMK leaders called on BJP chief JP Nadda in Delhi and informed him about the ground situation in the state arising out of the BJP's Tamil Nadu chief K Annamalai's "aggressive style of politics".
