Welcome to my channel and today i am here to help you with a simple step by step guide of loft boarding. At Southern Loft Boarding we are experts with over 13 years experience in Loft Boarding and Loft Insulation. We treat lofts, Government grant refusals, room in the roof and asbestos refusals. Boarding a loft makes for a fairly easy DIY project that is incredibly useful in increasing the storage space in your home. The loft is often completely underused, so if you’re not planning on turning it into habitable space with a loft conversion, then adding loft boards and using it for effective storage can be a great solution.
Loft boards are fixed together relatively easily, but working withing the confines of the loft’s available space can make boarding a loft a tricky endeavour.
In this short video we showed installing raised loft boarding which was about 20 sqm using Osb boards and new joists running at 90 degree angles to the original joists. There was a lot of wiring and pipework under certain sections and we had to be careful not to disturb these too much.

• Screws
• 4 inch joists
• 89 mil cls joists
• Tape measure
• Drill
• Impact driver
• Saw to cut boards to size
• Protective gear including gloves and a dust mask
