I have come to the North of Thailand and have been fortunate to come across a troop of Assamese (Assam) macaques in a protected area. Frustratingly, I came to this area for an overnight trip to film pit vipers, so I only brought a light tripod suitable for fixed macro shots. As a result, I am not able to pan and tilt to follow these macaques, which explains why this film is a series of static shots. Fortunately, the macaques were not moving around a whole lot, and the light was gorgeous making the whole scene a joy to film. In light of a number of recent attempts to abduct macaques in Thailand for sale to Chinese labs and restaurants in Laos, as well as other crimes against macaques, I will not be revealing the location of this troop.
