Hey Friends,

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to MSLS in Columbia, TN for their 2024 Spring Meet this season! This was also my first big adventure taking my new locomotive "Dulce" #5 off the new home railroad, and I can't thank our friends at Mid-South enough for the hospitality! We had a great time, and hope to come back soon.

Although we fought the rain (and ran through it a good bit) on Friday, my filming efforts were mostly postponed until our night run. Stay tuned, but hoping to release a special "Thunderstorm Edition" night run video in the next week or two. It may be a darker video on the screen, but the lightning in the distance will take your breath away!

I'm also long overdue to show you what's been going on around Fox Island Railroad here, and I'm really looking forward to sharing a hefty update video with you all in the near future! I've been soaking up the spring weather knocking out projects, plenty of filming but no time for editing. I appreciate your patience as episodes slowly roll out, and all of the encouragement I've received privately (you know who you are- thank you!) to keep documenting the process. It sure has been a fun project so far!!

I also look forward to sharing more info about "Dulce" #5 in upcoming videos as this is quite a unique, historic and well-traveled locomotive. Just a quick blurb for the folks with burning questions: "Dulce" #5 was designed and built by Willis Light Engineering in Perth, Australia in 1991. She's a 1/4 scale Baldwin Mogul, full size 30" gauge "La Quinta" worked for La Compania Ezucarera el Ejemplo in Puerto Rico. "Dulce" was built as the last of a batch of 5 locomotives, the first loco used WATO cylinders, the rest have larger patterns by Willis. These locomotives were built to haul real weight, and intended to run every day. Although the "La Quinta" class of locomotives are not direct relatives of the currently available "Sweet Creek" locos, they had a heavy influence on the now flourishing "ride-in" locomotive category around the world, and it's truly an honor to have this one in the shed!

Thanks for tuning in as always!!
See you down the line!

Cheers,
JC
