A few days ago I saw two Adders while walking along the Southern Upland Way at Glentrool. They are the only snake commonly found in Scotland. They are poisonous so you do need to take care when you see one but with a bit of understanding you do not need to worry about them.

The Southern Upland Way is one of Scotlands Great Trails. A 214 mile coast to coast path from Portpatrick on the West Coast to Cockburnspath on the east. For more information visit our website at https://dgtrails.org/southern-upland-way.
