On Thursday, February 4, 2021, we held our annual school-wide Poetry Out Loud recitation assembly. Fifteen students, each nominated by their English teacher, gathered in the library to recite their poems in front of each other and the judges. At the same time, in every classroom, students, faculty, and staff tuned in to watch and listen to these incredibly talented students. While the members of the English department feel that any one of these students would represent Rice incredibly well at the state level, one individual needed to be selected. Divided by only a few tenths of a point, placing as the second runner up is Jillian Getler '21, as the first runner up is Vanessa George '21, and representing Rice this year is Greta Alexandra-Parker '21.
