A dress for a single day. Many brides afford themselves this luxury. They usually have precise ideas and high expectations. But how do you make the wedding dress perfect? Svea Pannewitz tailors wedding dresses to measure. From the first draft to the finished wedding dress, everything is tailored to the customer's body and personality. In her atelier, unique pieces are created by hand over days. The designer is one of the few custom tailors who specializes in wedding dresses. For the SWR program Handwerkskunst we document the elaborate manufacturing process of a wedding dress. The dressmaker works with fine fabrics such as satin and georgette. She painstakingly covers buttons, gathers the skirt with a shirring foot and sews countless hand stitches with the patience of an angel until the dream in white is finally finished. The documentary shows the fascinating creation of a wedding dress, between modern fashion design and traditional craftsmanship.
