Hello everyone. In this video, we will learning how to plant a mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) tree. I am planting this mangosteen tree (G. mangostana) at my farm in Cali, Colombia.

Mangosteen is known as the "Queen of Fruits." This tropical fruit is not only delicious but also has many health benefits.

In Colombia, the mangosteen was an exotic fruit that was introduced in the early 20th century as English explorers landed in Mariquita, Colombia searching for gold and silver. The English explorers had brought a foreign fruit which was mangosteen, from south-east Asia. They saw that the conditions in Mariquita, Colombia, were similar to that of tropical Asia and decided to plant the seeds of mangosteen and create the first mangosteen plantations.

Mangosteen is said to fruit in 7 years from seed, and all these mangosteens I've planted were from seed.
