A Brief background of emergence of Jonglim Baptist Church–

Rima is one of the oldest village and was established pre-independence of India. Riju Kan was native village of Rima¸ later all the famillies of Riju Kan was migrated to Rima Village. A young man name Sh. Tujan Jugli son of Lt. Kimtoh Jugli and Lt. Wimey Jugli was lived in Rima village. There was no peace found after many rituals performed by nos. of priest and animals sacrifices. His health became unhealthy steadily. On 23rd July 1972 Sh. Tujan Jugli was baptized by Jelovi Sema at Lalpahar. He returned to home and prayed¸ cleaned his house and kept aside rituals items. He was lonely member as Christian. After 3 months¸ on 26th November 1972 Lt. Wajung Jugli (Phangjung Jugli) took baptist. Again There were 16 persons took baptized on 31st December 1972 by Evangelist Rongsen Ao. On 2nd January 1973 they were prayed¸ cleaned their house. On 3rd January 1973 the christian members were get togather at Tujan´s Residence and conducted 1st meeting. They had decided to formed a church committee and start fellowship. They kept church name as RIJU-RIMA BAPTIST CHURCH where Lt. Wajung Jugli as Pastor¸ Sh. Tujan Jugli as Secretary¸ Sh. Nyakkam Jugli as Deacon¸ Lt. Hangkhong Jugli as Mission keeper¸ Lt. Basam Jugli as Bell walla. Sh. Tujan Jugli had dedicated his House for Fellowship and spent two years with others house till his new house constructed.
In the year 1982¸ some numbers of families decided to settle down near river bank of Tirap and established a new village - Jonglim Pothar Village. Tujan´s Family was one of them. The church programme was conducted in the residence of Lt. Hangnong Jugli. Later¸ new church building was constructed and continue the service. On 1999-2000 Tujan´s family reshifted to Rima village. The remaining families are remain living in Jonglim village
After continue and unconditional love of God and His guidance¸ the villagers are living peacefully. After 50 years of Christianity This year the church have decided to celebrated Golden Jubilee on 13-14 January 2023 for glory to GOD. Nearby Villagers- Khuchep-I & II¸ Jukhi-¸I & II¸ Manmao Walangtoi¸ Lungshang¸ Sinwang¸ Rima and Riju have join hands to fulfilled the mission. It was seen the spirit of oneness is that villagers of Rima and Riju have contributed in work as per their capacity day and night to made successful program of GOLDEN JUBILEE which we have witness the spirit of brotherhood and we can also imagine how our forefather lived togather. i hope our young generation may follow same spirit
