Will underwater combat be back in Monster Hunter Wilds? I dunno. But what I do know is that the mechanic itself and the three dimensional spin it brought to Monster Hunter had a massive effect on the franchise as a whole. And with Tri about to turn 15, I think it's a good time to take a bit of a look back and offer up some appreciation to this ambitious if a little janky component of Monster Hunter's history. Enjoy!
