West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday stated that she never threatened the doctors protesting the rape-murder of the trainee doctor at the Kolkata medical college, rejecting BJP allegations. She stressed that the allegations of threatening the agitating junior doctors are 'completely false' and asserted that the doctors' movement is genuine.

On Wednesday, addressing a rally, Banerjee urged the junior doctors at state-run hospitals, who have been on ceasework for 21 days, to return to work. The Chief Minister said she does not want to lodge FIRs against the striking doctors in consideration of their future careers.
