Vadodara is famous for it’s street food and today we will make the famous tarri poha recipe. Vadodara Usal Poha or Tarri Poha consists of poha served with hot gravy of Vadodara Sev Usal. The combination of Sev Usal and Poha is simply amazing and it gets elevated when we top it with some onions and sev. You can make this Vadodara Poha Usal recipe for breakfast, lunch and even for dinner. This recipe is a must try recipe of Vadodara. Ingredients:

For Poha:
1.5 Cups of Poha
1 Finely Chopped Onion
8-10 Curry Leaves (Kadi Patta)
2-3 Finely Chopped Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds (Rai)
1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Juice of ½ Lemon
½ Teaspoon Sugar
Salt
Oil

For Tarri:
1 Finely Chopped Onion
3 Tomatoes
3 Green Chilies (Hari Mirch)
1-1.5 Inch Ginger (Adrak)
10-12 Garlic Cloves (Lehsun)
Coriander Leaves (Dhania)
½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
1-1.5 Teaspoon Dhana Jeera Powder
1 Teaspoon Dal Shaak Masala or Garam Masala
1 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
Salt
Water
Oil

For Tadka:
1 Teaspoon Red Chili (Lal Mirch) Powder
Oil

For Serving:
Finely Chopped Onions
Sev
Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves (Dhania)

Procedure:
1. Wash and drain the poha.
2. In a kadhai to make poha add some oil. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves and onion. Sauté it well.
3. Add finely chopped green chilies and stir fry it well.
4. Add turmeric powder and mix it.
5. Add poha and mix well.
6. Add lemon juice, sugar and salt. Mix it on low gas. Close lid and let it cook for 2-3 minutes.
7. Add coriander leaves and our poha is ready.
8. For tarri make a paste of tomato, some coriander leaves, ginger, garlic and green chilies.
9. Heat oil and add finely chopped onion. Saute it well till it becomes golden.
10. Add the prepared paste and fry it well in oil. The more you fry this paste on medium to low gas the more flavourful will be our tarri.
11. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, dhana jeera powder, dal shaak masala and salt. Mix well.
12. Add water and prepare the gravy. As we will be serving this poha keep the portion of water more. Mix well and let it come to a boil.
13. For tadka heat some oil in a small utensil and add red chili powder. Switch off the gas or the red chili might get burnt. Mix well and pour this tadka over the tarri.
14. Add some coriander leaves and our tarri is ready.
15. Serve poha in a bowl, add the tarri, top it with some onions and sev. Vadodara Tarri Poha are ready.
