I’ll be showing you how to daisy chain a TD-17 module to the TD-27 module, turning the 17 into a trigger interface run by the 27. The master module is connected to my computer via a USB cable where I’m running Superior Drummer 3

1. Connect the extra cymbal pad to one of the available inputs in the TD-17, I’m choosing the crash2 input.

2. Use a MIDI cable and connect it to the MIDI OUT on the TD-17. Connect it to the MIDI In on the TD-27

3. Press Set up and scroll down to MIDI. Change MIDI channel to 11 and turn local control off.

4. On the TD-27 press System – MIDI. Set Soft Thru MIDI in to On (USB MIDI), then turn local control off.

5.In Superior Drummer 3 go to – Settings – MIDI in/E drums – show – all notes – cymbal 1 (which is the instrument I want my pad to trigger). Notice that the crash is MIDI note 30 and the bow is MIDI note 84.

6. On the TD-17 press other – scroll down to MIDI note – remember which output your pad is connected to (in my case crash2) then change the MIDI notes to correspond to the MIDI mapping in Superior Drummer 3, in this case note 30 for edge and note 84 for bow.
