In this video I take a look at the VP6650: what you get in the box and also some performance testing that I conducted with OPNsense.

In regard to using the VP6650 with OPNsense, I found that this box would not use more than 20-25% of the CPU due to the fact that OPNsense and the services running on it doesn't seem to fully utilize more than 4 cores (with more than 4 cores, the load may be spread more across the cores, but the overall CPU usage remains at 25% or below even under the load of IDS/IPS). Because of this fact, you may consider using virtualization so you can take full advantage of the hardware resources available on the VP6650.
