Today we replace the thermostat on this 2003 BMW e46 M3. This is a fairly quick job, and should take about an hour to complete. Don't forget to replace the lost coolant and to bleed the system of air through the bleed hole in the upper radiator hose.

This video is for the M3 only, as the non M3 e46s have different setups. The non M3 version is somewhat easier than this.

I did have a little trouble getting the housing to push into the pipe that runs under the intake. I lubricated the O-ring and it went right in. Be careful that it goes in straight, and the bolt holes line up completely. Replacing the O-rings is a must, do not complete this job without them!
