Sometimes you need to be able to mount an object, in this case a medal, that you need to get out of the frame at a later stage. There are several method that you can choose but using mighty mounts are are simple solution that preserves the integrity of the item being framed. The medal is easily removed from the mount.

In this example the ribbon was slotted through the mat board and an additional stitch was placed around the metal clip at the top of the medal to help keep it straight and aligned.

Spacers were placed inside the picture frame rabbet to provide the clearance required from the conservation glass used in this presentation.

When you are framing items in shadowboxes consideration should be given to the conservation framing methods that are available. It is better to invest in quality picture framing in the first place than find you have destroyed an irreplaceable piece of memorabilia.
