This week we’re going to have a quick look at a bass riff that lots of people get wrong... and no it’s not Billie Jean by Michael Jackson!
No, this is a rock classic that we all get wrong especially when we play fingerstyle. It’s John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin and the bass riff is Whole Lotta Love!
Whole Lotta Love is often played as a straightahead bass riff using three notes. But with a little closer examination and listening we can hear how John Paul Jones makes use of octaves and unisons across the strings while strumming with a pick to create a chunkier bass riff.
