Barge Inn Pub in Honeystreet, Near Pewsey, Wiltshire UK all the way to the Pewsey Wharf.

This is a new series of flying along the canals to show what the full length of the waterways looks like and the seriously impressive views and engineering achievements. This is a view of the "cut" (canal) you have never seen before.

THIS IS PART OF THE "Kennet and Avon Canal" system of Victorian canal systems which were part of the backbone of the industrial revolution and were not only a reliable way to transport massive cargo's with little fuel, in a way which was hard to achieve with roads and steam or petrol engines... these canals also represented an almost forgotten way of life for their boat operators who either pulled the barges with horses or eventaully steam then petrol/diesel engines. "The 29 locks have a rise of 237 feet in 2 miles (72 m in 3.2 km) or a 1 in 44 gradient. The locks come in three groups. The lower seven locks, Foxhangers Wharf Lock to Foxhangers Bridge Lock, are spread over ¾ of a mile (1.2 km). The next sixteen locks form a steep flight in a straight line up the hillside and are designated as a scheduled monument.[2] Because of the steepness of the terrain, the pounds between these locks are very short. As a result, 15 locks have unusually large sideways-extended pounds, to store the water needed to operate them. A final six locks take the canal into Devizes"
