Size decides the hierarchy in the food chain
This is an Image of a monitor lizard catching and making a meal of a Rat snake. Was made at the Keoladev national park .These type of action used to be a very common sight in this park till the incisive weed Juliflora took over the Bharatpur habitat. This weed chokes the landscape, it has tunneling roots that sucks up ground water making the area arid. An effort was launched by my NGO Lifeline for Nature Society to restore the habitat and in the last 5 years we have been fairly successful in doing so. The habitat restoration has been so effective that this year saw the Heronry count the largest in nearly 30 years. Hope to see action again in this park. — at Keoladeo Bharatpur
