This song from the 16th century is quite fitting for the celebration of winter solstice - it describes the threats of winter and its darkness in an almost devotive way, but also carries the seed of a turning point and a brighter future: "The Nightingale has flown afar - will she sing again?" That last line made my cry oftentimes, because it carries such a loving surrender to the ways of nature, even at their darkest point.
