I was recently on a trip along with my best friend, spending my days on overcrowded cobblestone streets and the nights in an overheated hotel room and came to the realisation that it is, indeed, tourist season.

The song gets its name and part of the lyrics based on that trip, but it is also about how some people come into your life only for a brief period, only a season, before they leave again. In my experience these short periods of knowing someone can sometimes be the most intense and when they end it tends to be a bittersweet affair, and this song is in a way about the feeling of sensing the potential end and dreading it.
