A visit to the Cork Gaeltacht to see how a flute is made.

Hammy Hamilton is from Belfast. He recently moved to Cúil Aodha in the Gaeltacht region in County Cork, and set up a flute making workshop.

He demonstrates the process of making a flute from the raw piece of bubinga, a wood from South America, to the final product.

Hammy Hamilton plays a tune on the flute accompanied by two young musicians, one on tin whistle and the other on bodhrán.

This episode of ‘Youngline’ was broadcast on 31 January 1980. The presenter is Pat Butler.
