This is the Sony "EM-3" tape recorder that we have previously introduced to you. I have been collecting them since then, and this time I found a very nice one. The EM-3 was developed by Sony to compete with the "NAGRA" tape recorder by Kudelski of Switzerland, and was used by many radio stations, especially NHK. Unlike the "NAGRA" tape recorder, the EM series does not have the ability to synchronize with a motion picture camera. Since these tape recorders were often used outdoors, they are usually in poor condition with many scratches and bumps, making them a collector's hazard. It has three heads for recording, playback, and erasing in monaural recordings, and can simultaneously playback and monitor the contents while recording, and has fast forward and rewind functions. It has an aluminum exterior, but the frame and other parts are made of steel, so it is much heavier than it looks. Nicknamed "Densuke," it has long supported radio stations.

以前にもご案内させて頂きました、ソニー製のテープレコーダー「EM-3」です。その後収集を進めておりましたら今回、大変良い個体に出合えました。「EM-3」は放送業務（ラジオ局のインタビュー等）用に多数が販売されましたので収集されておられる方々も多いかと思いますが、御覧頂けれたら有難いです。EMシリーズはソニーがスイスのクデルスキー社の「NAGRA」テープレコーダーに対抗して開発したラジオ局用のテープレコーダーでＮＨＫを中心に多くの局で採用されました。「NAGRA」テープレコーダーとは異なり、映画撮影カメラとの同期機能は持っておりません。このテープレコーダーは屋外で使用される場面が多いので大抵は傷・凸凹多数で程度が悪い物が多く、収集家泣かせです。モノラル録音で記録・再生・消去の３つのヘッドを持ち、録音中に同時再生して内容をモニター出来、早送り・巻き戻し機能が付きます。外装はアルミ筐体ですが、フレーム等は鉄製なので見た目よりかなり重量があります。「デンスケ」の愛称で長らくラジオ局を支えて来ました。
