MUSINGS is a short concert piece, about 6-1/2 minutes, that is intended to showcase the beautiful sound and range of the bassoon. The piano accompaniment is minimalistic so as to maintain focus on the bassoon. It is not written in any particular major or minor key and consequently, it is replete with accidentals. It contains tonal and harmonic progressions that are unusual yet compelling. It is suitable for any audience and works very well as a cello solo, too.
