William Wood's war experience took him through Western Europe as the Nazis were finally on the back foot, with people like Mr Wood and his comrades helping to liberate France and the Low Countries from Nazi occupation. The fighting was fierce, bitter, and often at very close quarters, with Mr Wood witnessing things that nobody should ever have to see.

Please join us in thanking and paying tribute to Mr Wood for the sacrifices he made, including suffering severe hip and leg damage after being shot in the thigh - an incident described in great detail in this video.
