Sowing of sugarcane crop after the harvesting of wheat crop is often discourages by the department of agriculture. Its germination, plant population and production is often not up to the mark. Nevertheless, many small farmers continue to cultivate sugarcane after wheat crop on short scale especially those who have their own sugarcane seed. This crop matures very late in February or March after which sowing of wheat crop is not possible. We have advised the farmers in this video about how to make such a late sown crop successful. Under the changing scenario of climatic conditions, weather may remain warm until the month of November. This thing favors late sown sugarcane and it may sometimes perform well. However, being a short durational, the late sown sugarcane needs more intensive use of inputs especially fertilizer and canal irrigation water.
