Known for her rich tone, silky ad-libs and intimate lyrics, @SophiaGalate is an LA based vocalist and songwriter.
Sophia has been singing and performing since she was a child. Listening to the likes of Motown, Frank Sinatra, Sade, and Carole King with her parents, she developed an early love for music. More contemporary influences followed with for example John Legend, D'Angelo or Amy Winehouse. After graduating high school, she moved to Chicago to study music. When she returned to Los Angeles after college, she decided to work on the business side of the music industry while she searched for the confidence to pursue her artist dreams. During this time, she worked at a talent agency and even co-founded an artist management agency called Nucleus. Despite battling normal feelings of doubt and uncertainty, her passion for starting her own music career never faltered.
Today, her music can be defined as a blend of the sounds that define her life. With her use of runs and harmonies that truly show off her skills, she perfectly embodies the music legacy of R&B, Soul, and Jazz legends. Her sound and stage skills are uniquely hers, and incomparable to any current artist.

For this first sunset session, Rise was glad to capture this timeless moment. Accompanied by Dhahran Woods on keys, Sophia performed four songs while the Malibu sun was setting in the background.
