Having finally found my ride out of Delhi, I was eager to begin my new adventure through Rajasthan. What better place than to get started than the state capital of Jaipur - formerly known as Jeypore - which is also affectionately known as the 'pink city' due to the colour of many of its buildings which were painted in preparation for the arrivial of Queen Victoria of England.

My first impressions were overwhelming positive, despite being refused a ride by the first driver I hailed down. I had an incredible day checking out the main sites - from City Palace, to Amer (Amber) Fort, and Jal Mahal on the back of a rickshaw driven by a typically friendly driver. My first impressions of the hospitality of the state continued in the same vein as India overall and I met lots of friendly people along the way.
