This video works through six different example problems for the simple harmonic motion of an oscillating mass on a spring. The examples will show you how to calculate the period, frequency, mass and the spring constant.

When a mass on a spring is displaced from its equilibrium position and released the restoring force will causes it to oscillate about the equilibrium position. The time for the mass to complete one complete cycle is called the period. The frequency of oscillation is the number of cycles the mass completes in one second.
