What is a Sensor?
A sensor is a device, module, machine, or subsystem that detects, senses, traces or find out data from the environment and converts electrical signal ie non-readable form data into digital signal ie readable form, and sends the information to other electronics devices, frequently a computer processor.
What is an IR Sensor
IR sensor is an electronic device, that emits light in order to sense some object of the surroundings. It has two main parts- a Transmitter, and a Receiver.
An IR sensor is used in touchscreen phones and edge-avoiding robots, line-following robots, and counting goods, also used in security systems, motion detection, temperature measurement, proximity sensing, and many more.
