This is a short 4K film, shot with the Nikon D850. Our subject is Jossie Alonso, who lives amidst her memories in a stunning old Havana home. We could not have had a lovelier subject. In her 80's now, trained as a dancer many years ago, her incredible house is a magnet for dancers and photographers alike. As she says in the film, when she sees the young dancers in her house, she remembers "many things, good things" about her youth in Cuba. The house is beautiful, and evocative, filled with wonderful light. Many people to thank here! Lynn DelMastro, our executive producer, who coordinated things from afar. And Jen Spelman, our producer, who has vast Cuba experience. And Talia Bustamante, our line producer, who between her and our production assistant Carlos Otera, seemingly knew everyone in Havana. Michael Cali, our DP, and Andrew Tomasino, our cinematographer, worked amazingly well with the Nikon D850 cameras and Nikkor lenses, shooting 4k and slo-mo to produce lovely moving image after image. Many thanks to our documentary consultant, Mark Bone, and our insightful editor, Steve Guise, colorist, Mark Takacs, and the sound mix crew at Farmhouse Creative Labs.
And of course to the hero of the piece, Jossie, who is a quintessentially decent, warm hearted person, indeed filled with many memories and stories. She is surrounded in the piece by the formidably talented Cuban dancers Cynthia Villalonga, Daniela Gomez Perez, Gabriela Lugo, Keyvin Martinez, and Yanlis Abreu Gonzalez.
And finally, great thanks to ‪@nikonusa‬ and our chief Ambassador and advocate, Mike Corrado. The technology of the D850 continues to amaze and I can’t wait to explore more in the world of moving pictures. #HavanaCuba #photographyinspiration #NikonD850
