Hey everyone!

I just wrapped up this gift that I had for my father-in-law for some time. During a move, a while back, I grabbed a couple of his broken bats. He told me that they would be good for burning. I had a different idea. He is "Mr. Baseball" in our family and I wanted to return the bats to him in a way that would be memorable. He has always had a passion for the game and he still plays in hard ball leagues to this day. These bats were bought, used, and broken by him. The only thing I did was glue them back together and use them as table legs.

I came up with the idea for this table pretty quickly after seeing the bats. I made a round top with a baseball design and a bottom shelf scaled down from home plate. The legs are held on with pocket hole screws and glue. I had to cut several inches off of the bottom of each bat and I put a 5° angle on the top and bottom of each. I left the ball marks and scuffs on the bats as they were put there by him. I also left the baseball and home plate shelf in a slightly worn and weathered way. The final finish is Deft semi-gloss spray finish with light sanding between coats and 0000 steel wool for the final.
