Oil painting in one studio session (alla prima) using wet into wet techniques to capture the sparkling light as it hits the wet sand on Gwithian beach in West Cornwall UK. Painted in my studio at Krowji Redruth using a photograph for reference.
I really love these sparkles of light that hit the wet sand and so wanted to do a video of my wet into wet oil painting process. I used three different brushes and a palette knife to create this scene.
Gwithian is our favourite beach and has so much to offer the painter. Beautiful colours, awesome sunsets, big open skies and people wandering around on the beach. It's no wonder that it forms a great part of my work.
