Follow the lead of our restless protagonist trying to run away from the hustle and bustle of the city, attempting to find peace in one of the territory’s far-off islands.

The project combines soundscapes, original electronic music and visuals produced by the trio, and was developed during the height of the pandemic at a time when most of us rarely left our apartments.

The 20-minute piece immerses the audience into an adventure through Hong Kong, the Virtual Island, and aims to illustrate the tense and voltaic energy felt all over the city over almost 2 years.

The sound and music are mixed in 360 degrees. Sounds are coming from above, below, and behind the listener while the hypnotising visuals pulls one inwards with depth and holograms. Headphones are needed to experience the full effect of this virtual journey.

The visuals are based on a semi-abstract representation of Hong Kong skyline and streets, where beats and frequencies of the soundtrack trigger the apparition of lines, overlying patterns and different level of shades.

About ADA-M
ADA Minimal is an audiovisual collective constantly in search of something new. Each member serves as a unique cog in the machine, lending their perspective and skills in service of a collaborative vision. With their roots as a multimedia performance ensemble, ADA-M is no stranger to improvisation and seek to keep their digital works fully organic, to retain the live feel they’ve honed in visual artist Allan Ho’s Off Limits space in Sai Ying Pun. DJ/sound recordist Aymeric Vollant curates and collects immersive field recordings, stitched together to make the worldly sound surreal, and composer/producer Drew Cappotto explores uncharted sonic territory with his experimental electroacoustic works.
