The 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N is on a mission to become the benchmark for mainstream sports sedans of the small variety. In its way is the perennial Subaru WRX, which has led the way for decades – but time's are changing. After all, where's the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution? It's long gone.
In its latest attempt at relevancy, the i30 Sedan N has been given a facelift, which ushers in sharper looks both front and rear, as well as a new set of 19-inch forged alloy wheels and "motorsport-inspired" chassis tweaks, including upgraded ESC software and hardware – and that's just the highlights.
So, in this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Byron Mathioudakis gets behind the wheel of the face lifted i30 Sedan N at its Australian launch to see if it has what it takes to truly take the title of hottest entry-level four-door. Its 206kW/392Nm 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will surely help!
