Fatty Uncle usually wakes up early because that leaves more time for me during the day. And on a good day like this, I embarked on my journey to the city center to discover some good coffee and delectable breakfasts. I guarantee that the restaurants we’re visiting today are no less than excellent.

“Kope Hya Tai Kee” is an old coffee shop near Phan Fa Lilat Bridge. My favorite part about this coffee shop is “Norkao,” a mix of coffee, tea, and condensed milk in one cup. This coffee is rich and extremely aromatic and is truly a taste from the old time.

“Jek Meng Hainanese Chicken Rice,” also known as “Double-Colored Chicken Rice.” Fatty Uncle has been a fan of this restaurant for over 20 years. It’s one of my favorite Hainanese chicken restaurants. Their chickens are large, soft, and uniquely not flattened before serving them to you.

“Je Dang Sam Yan” is famous among Chula students and the people of Samyan. The signature of Je Dang is her famous “Grilled Pork Neck.” These are thick and lightly sweet pieces of pork neck served with sticky rice and spicy tamarind sauce. They are the best! If you’re still unsure, Je Dang received two Micheline Guides two years in a row! How about that?
