具有百年历史的印度庙
Mariamman Temple is at 45 Truong Dinh Street in District 1, just a few minutes’ walk from Ben Thanh Market
Built in the late 19th century by the first Indian migrants who settled down in Sai Gon to do business, the Indian goddess temple called Mariamman Temple in District 1 is a worshiping place for Hindu followers.

Just a few minutes’ walk from Ben Thanh Market, the temple is dedicated to worshiping the Hindu goddess Mariamman, originally known as an ancient village goddess giving blessings on fertility and rain in southern India.

According to the temple keeper of Indian origin, the temple with distinctive architecture touching Indian culture and religion is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to noon and from 1.30 pm to 8 pm.

In more than one century of existence, the temple has undergone several restorations thanks to contributions by the Indian community in HCMC and generous non-Hindus. So far, the worshiping destination has remained a common home for Indian people living away from home, he says.

Pilgrims can drop by the temple to attend ceremonial offerings for the goddess which take place twice a day in 30 minutes at 10 am and 7 pm to pray for good luck and peace.
