It's been 5 days since the Grayson Highlands 50k, and I feel rested and ready to get back into some running. I only went on a few short walks (15-20 minutes) and got on my stationary bike a few times for 10 minutes or so. During a recovery phase, I like to focus on eating healthy and eating a lot, drinking a lot of water, and stretching. I don't have any races on my calendar currently, so I don't have an urge to jump back in to intense training. I'm going to enjoy my down time, do primarily easy runs for the next few months, maybe do a speed session or training race to see where my fitness is going into the fall.
Some other recovery methods not mentioned in the video - foam rolling, massage therapy, and SLEEP! There are plenty of others you can use the Google to find.
