The Koffman Southern Tier Incubator is dedicated to growing a robust clean energy innovation ecosystem in the Southern Tier of New York.
In 2022, Binghamton University and its Koffman Incubator became winners of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge, securing $113 million dollars to launch New Energy New York, an initiative to grow an energy storage industry cluster in the region.

To capitalize on this momentum and expand resources to high-tech energy startups, we launched the New Energy New York Charge Up Program with support of the DOE EPIC Prove It phase funding.

The pilot program, which engaged over 100 participants and over 20 startup companies, provided a series of training sessions focused on major startup gap areas, including corporate structuring, intellectual property protection, and grant proposal preparation all with supplemented micro-grant funding.

To further support Charge Up Program participants in the EPIC Move It Phase, we will expand the scope of our training modules to cover additional topics including marketing, team building, financials, and investment readiness with additional microgrant funding.

With DOE EPIC Move It funding, we will continue to support energy startups in building sustainable businesses for a sustainable future.
