Barongan is a type of traditional Javanese and Balinese art that developed in Central Java and Bali, but originates from the Ponorogo Regency in East Java.

This art is usually accompanied by gamelan accompaniment (a set of musical instruments) that has a rhythmic rhythm. Since 2011, this Barongan art has been officially designated by the government of the Republic of Indonesia as one of Indonesia's unique Intangible Cultural Heritage, especially for the typical Barongan of Kudus Regency and the Mlangsen area in Central Java.
