Part 2 of 2
So we decided to head back to the town where the old general store was located; because last time I'd spotted an old abandoned hotel.
Well we parked up nearby and went and tried the door...it was open! In we went, chattering away, until we heard others chattering as well.
We realised we weren't alone – surveying the old reception we quickly discerned that something was going to happen to the hotel – either renovation....or worse, modernisation or demolition.
I had the gut feeling we wouldn't get permission to film, and so made the decision to sneak around and document it under their noses.
We had several close calls, and at one point I looked over a stairwell and saw two women chatting in the closed courtyard; one looked up directly into my face...I quickly hunched down, lol – but somehow, amazingly she hadn't seen me! Although we made so much unintentional noise while filming (dropping the tripod, opening rusty shutters, creaking on ancient floorboards, etc) ...that the others must have thought the place haunted.
Although the hotel was emptied of furnishings upon it's closure, it gives a unique glimpse of two different eras of design – and even more unique...without vandalism or graffiti.
We hope you enjoy the tour!
