Be it that you are making a decoration for your home or a relief, this technique may be applied. Silicone isn't a material you will use every time you want to make a mold of something.

I've recently posted two videos; of making a mold of Medusa relief (a plaster mold), and of making a clay mold. I used cardboard "walls" which were an ideal solution and replacement for clay walls, which are, so to speak, traditionally used, and which I used in this video. It was working for me quite well for years, but cardboard with tape simply meant - keeping more clay clean.

There are quite a few ways of making those walls;
with plastic, tin... but I wanted to find the easiest, most
efficient, most recyclable, easy-to-clean way. Tin most usually gets damaged and it's hard to use it again and not cut yourself or have an ugly cast. It also needs to be sealed with clay on the sides.

As soon as you (inevitably) stain the clay walls with plaster in the process, it can no longer be fired, as trapped plaster may cause trouble in the kiln.

In this video I wanted to unite the process from starting to model a relief to making clay tiles which will then be dried and fired at 1000°C.

I tried to explain as much as possible, or, as much as it necessary for someone to create a relief of one's own...

You may see more photos of the relief in my instagram gallery.
