Sita Gatha is based on a poem by Meenakshi Sharma that tells story of Ramayana from Sita's viewpoint.
The poem describes how an exceptional woman was overshadowed by her exceptional husband and had to suffer various indignities despite being pure an unblemished. Finally Sita refuses to return to Ayodhya where her character was questioned and instead blended in mother earth. The poem ends with a wish for Sita to come back once more and to nurture Sita as herself.
