If you've ever wondered why the Woodland Mills sawmill scales make different size lumber, today is the day to tune in. I'm taking you through all four of the scales on the white and yellow sawmill scales that Woodland Mills provides with their portable sawmills. I often use the true dimension side of the yellow scale to cut my lumber but for you, you may find one of the other scales more applicable. Tune in today to find out how to use the Woodland Mills sawmill scales once and for all. Once you understand how boards dry and shrink you'll understand why the boards are often cut larger than what is needed when rough sawing like is the case using your portable sawmill. Even though some of the Woodland Mills portable sawmills have changed slightly in their features over the years, the same basic analogy can be used to understand the provided scales.
