Sympathetic nerves supply the SA node, AV node as well as ventricular musculature. Their stimulation increases cardiac output and inhibition decreases cardiac output. The parasympathetic nerve supplies mainly the SA node and atrial but not much the ventricular muscles. Its stimulation decreases heart rate and very strong stimulation can even stop the heart a for few seconds.
