One of only 12 paintings in the series...each painting emphasizes explores the idea that the valeu of each individual mark is dependent on the context in which is sits. A mark is light or dark because of the lightness or darkness of the surroundings...a mark is soft or hard because of the texture in which it sits...etcetera. Each painted object is a response to the previous one and a whole world is held inside each painting in the series. This reflects the artist's experience as a therapist; each individual person is shaped and value in relation to the context in which they find themselves.
